On Friday, October 5, 2018, 12 top CEOs from the private sector in Lebanon, along with H.E Prime Minister Saad Hariri and Member of the Parliament Dr. Dima Jamali, met at Bayt Al Wasat in a closed roundtable to facilitate, organize and guide the discussion for potentially tangible change in Lebanon regarding sustainability. Each of these CEOs champion one goal from the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to actively achieve sustainable milestones and action plans in Lebanon.
Lebanon is committed to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals and the UN 2030 Agenda, and Global Compact Network Lebanon (GCNL) is the driving force that connects and catalyzes insightful relationships that highlight and accomplish actionable and sustainable practices in the nation.
The Voluntary National Report was published in New York on July 2018, to facilitate the sharing of experiences, including successes, challenges and lessons learned in Lebanon, with a vision to accelerating the implementation of the 2030 Agenda nationally.
With the fluctuating Lebanese economy, the roundtable inspired potential collaborations, action plans and recommendations, and particularly from Mr. Saad Hariri himself.
The Roundtable focused on the impactful role of the private sector in being the active force of change in Lebanon, and on the collaboration between both the private and public sector regarding the SDGs.
GCNL is always appreciative of the supporting role of Mr. Saad Hariri and his team, the unwavering dedication of its Goal Leaders, and is particularly willing to work towards SDG 17 to bridge the gaps between the private and public sector.
