TGE Kick off Session
Introduction to the Women Empowerment Principles (WEPs) Gender Gap
Wednesday, August 31st, 2022, Global Compact Local Networks within the Middle East Region including Global Compact Network Lebanon, Global Compact Network UAE, Global Compact Network Jordan and Global Compact Network Egypt have joined ties and kicked off the third round of the Target Gender Equality Accelerator.
The launching of the accelerator took place through a lively kick off and an introductory session on the Women Empowerment Principles (WEPs) Gender Gap Analysis Tool.
This lively session has convened around 40 regional companies spanning across various industries that are aspiring to enhance their corporate deliveries on Gender Equality through their participation in the Target Gender Equality Accelerator.
Target Gender Equality is an opportunity for companies to deepen their implementation of the Women Empowerment Principles (WEPs) and strengthen their contribution to SDG 5.5, which calls for equal women representation, participation and leadership in business globally.
This session was an opportunity for the participants to get to know each other and the key learning outcomes of the journey with an emphasis on the Women Empowerment Principles (WEPs) Gender Gap Analysis Tool.
The Women Empowerment Principles (WEPs) Gender Gap Analysis Tool is a dynamic tool that aims to help participants to assess their Gender Equality Performance in order to effectively identify gaps in terms of corporate target setting, practices and actions needed to achieve gender equality.
Throughout this session, local network representatives reflected on the key themes of the TGE journey: Sexual Harassment, Unconscious Bias, and Support for Working Parents and Equal Pay.
We are excited to embark on this journey and inspire businesses to enhance the needle on Gender Equality, as we believe that the evidence today is quite clear: When women are empowered and equally represented, everybody benefits.
