United Nations Leaders Week 2019
September 23-26, 2019 | New York
Every September, the United Nations member states convene at the General Assembly in New York to elaborate on pressing issues of global concern.
This year, Global Compact Network Lebanon proudly sent a delegation to participate among world leaders in a week loaded with high-level meetings and summits dedicated to reinforce action on climate change and consolidate global initiatives in sustainable development, in alignment with the UN 2030 Agenda.
The main theme for the action week was the Sustainable Development Goals, which were adopted by global leaders in 2015.
The 17 interconnected goals constitute a universal campaign to terminate both poverty and hunger, widen access to education, health-services, employment opportunities, and justice, while simultaneously precluding the environmental degradation of our planet, and saving life both on and off-shore.
Our Executive Director Mrs. Dina Harake, National Network Coordinator Ms. Sarah Issa, and Programs Manager Ms. Bruna Elias participated in the following programs that were available during the 2019 Leaders Week.
- Private Sector Forum
- Climate Action Reception
- SDG Solutions Showcase Breakfast
- Leadership for the SDGs: Featuring the Young SDG Pioneers
- Trailblazing Women Reception
