Updates on the Women Empowerment Principles (WEPs)

In collaboration with UN WOMEN, Global Compact Network Lebanon has launched the Women Empowerment Principles (WEPs) exactly one year ago, when the CEOs of the big companies signed the agreement, pledging to empower women in the workplace, marketplace, and community, aligned with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 5.

To this day, we have 20 network members who have signed the Women Empowerment Principles and are counting on more companies to ratify this significant commitment during this year’s Ring the Bell Event on the 10th of March.

A major aspect of the WEPs program lies in analyzing the gender gap in a company, which is an essential step before designing solutions-driven policies in the firms that aim for gender equity.

In the past two weeks, GCNL’s Gender Consultant Mr. Victor Nahas has met with five of our network members to guide them through the Gender Gap Analysis Tool currently used for internal assessment with respect to SDG 5.

We are proud to congratulate the following companies for successfully using the accessible tool that helped them understand where they lie with respect to gender equality:

Leveraging on the Gender Gap Analysis Tool only helps companies improve their approach, measures, and policies towards protecting and empowering corporate women.
