SDG 4 : Quality Education 

Employability Skills Program (Youth Empowerment) was implemented in Tyre, Nabatiyeh, Saida and Tripoli and Professional Development and Internship Program (Youth Empowerment)  was implemented in Akkar, Reyak, and Mount Lebanon. Both programs aimed to empower youth and enhance sustainable development within the community. Both programsequipped 700 youth with the skills needed to be effective leaders, negotiators and problem solvers. It also helped the youths develop and practice self-management skills for the workplace and build the necessary skills to be youth leaders in their communities.  Youth who attended the workshops were able to demonstrate personal and professional skills needed in the marketplace, while being exposed to different working environments through various case studies that are intended to help them shape their professional future. The university will be implementing the  Employability Skills Program next year and will reach more Campuses.

LIU hosted the 8th International Arab Conference on Quality Assurance in Higher Education and will be hosting the 9th International Arab Conference on Quality Assurance in Higher Education for the next Academic year. This conference is forum for scientists, researchers, and experts to present their latest research, results, ideas, developments, and applications in all areas of quality assurance in higher education. This conference is considered the official scientific conference for the Association of Arab Universities in the field of quality assurance in higher education.

Community Outreach Program was implemented at Saida and Beirut Campuses and offered Math, English, Chemistry, Biology, Physics and Programming courses to High School Students for free as well as offering them an ID to use LIU playgrounds and computer labs.

Several Technical Training Workshops was offered for free for students in 9 Campuses on Financial Literacy, Taxation, etc.

 

SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth

Beirut Economic Congress. A research center at LIU established last year and is committed to investigate the economic challenges facing the Lebanese Economy and to set the plans to pave the way for developing the country and benefit the public good, etc.
